My first time in Melbourne was for a long weekend. We flew down on Saturday morning and spent most of the day at the Queen Victoria markets and looking around the city. The markets were full of beautifully fresh food. I wish I had something like that close to my house.
We did some more exploring Saturday night before stopping for dinner at an Italian restaurant on the South Bank of the Yarra River. I had a delicious risotto, that I’m sure I’ll be forever trying to recreate.

Afterwards we headed to the Crown Casino for a little fun on the Blackjack table. Also, they had GIANT cocktails. Amazing! After a sufficient amount of booze and gambling we made our way to Lord of the Fries – which is apparently a Melbourne must. We weren’t so impressed. It was just soggy fries cooked in dirty oil.
On Sunday we started the day at the South Wharf DFO. There was so many sales on! Factory Outlets are amazing. Then we spent a lazy afternoon bowling – Matt’s favourite past-time. I’m terrible at bowling, but he’s amazing.
That night we went out for a fancy degustation dinner, where I ate far too much good food. No regrets. We walked off dinner afterwards, checkout the crazy streets and buskers of Melbourne.

After we walked off a sufficient amount of dinner, we called it a night. An early flight home on Monday morning saw the end to an awesome weekend in Melbourne.
