Exploring Europe – Road Trip to Bordeaux!

We left Aix-en-Provence reasonably early to make our way west across France to Bordeaux. Our first stop was Avignon, the town that was once home of the Catholic Popes. We stopped in for breakfast and to take in the Palais des Papes (the Popes Palace).

From Avignon we then travelled through to Pont du Gard. Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct, and is the highest and one of the best preserved aqueducts.

Once we went through a million round-a-bouts and saw a few roadside hookers, we were at our next stop; Carcassonne. Carcassonne is famous for its medieval fortress, Cite de Carcassonne.

We managed to hit 2 UNESCO World Heritage sites in one day! Pretty amazing if you ask me. Next up, 4 days in Bordeaux!
