Hidden in the lush green rolling hills of the Berry countryside is a short 4.5km hike 600m above sealevel to the very unique Drawing Room Rocks. Located on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia, these sandstone rocks have weathered away to take the shape of tables and chairs, overlooking the Barren Grounds Nature Reserve and beyond – all the way to the Pacific Ocean.

The hike starts on Brogers Creek Road, on the northern end of Berry. Google Maps is your friend here, and will lead your straight to the head of the trail. The path up is reasonably sturdy, but those uphill sections can be difficult, so be sure to wear appropriate footware. The walk takes an obvious route, so don’t be worried about getting lost.

Once up the top, breathe in that fresh air and appreciate the vast views. Be careful where you stand – the sandstone has eroded in a way that makes it tricky to navigate.

Take a seat in one of the “chairs” and get that Instagram shot.

The walk should take around 2.5 hours. The perfect morning hike before the day gets too warm. Don’t forget to stop at the Berry Donut Van after the hike – you definitely deserve it!
