New Years in Bali!

Matt and I don’t usually travel just to party, but after all our mates decided to visit family out of state or do their own travels over New Years, we threw our hands up in the air and said “why the hell not”! We cashed in our free Accor stay and bought some overpriced flights, and off we went to Bali!

Flight to Kuta, Bali

We landed mid morning, and after one of those crazy car rides that reminds you how insane Bali roads can be, we arrived at our hotel; the ibis Styles Bali Petitenget. It was in the perfect location to walk around to all the best Seminyak restaurants. So that was the very first thing we did! One of my favourite things about any Asian destination we’ve been to is that you don’t have to go to a fancy restaurant to get really good food. We found a lovely warung after a 15 min walk and didn’t waste any time ordering some mee goreng and an extra large Bintang.

Our 5 days in Bali were spent walking the streets between Seminyak and Kuta, checking out the lovely shops and eating so much delicious food.

We spent new years eve at Finns Beach Club, in the VIP section drinking far too much alcohol, eating not nearly enough food and swimming with new friends. Amongst some great DJs playing were Flight Facilities, who if you don’t know you should get out more definitely google.

We stupidly jumped on the back of a scooter to get back to the hotel at 4 am (that’s right, 3 of us on 1 scooter with no helmets), grabbed instant noodles from a convenience store and fell asleep pretty pleased with ourselves on booking a great short getaway. In contrast, we woke on our last day with sore heads, broke af and dreading the flight home that afternoon, haha. You win this time Bali.
