We arrived in Italy pretty late in the afternoon, and we had been saving ourselves for an Italian lunch. We stopped for lunch at a big piazza for pizza. Just what we needed. Afterwards we had a walk around to get our bearings and digest the pizza. We got back to our room, unpacked and relaxed a bit before heading out for dinner.
The next day we caught a driverless train to the Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile. It was so futuristic!!! Matt loved the museum. He took a million pictures of all the cars. I liked the old school ones.
We decided to walk back to Turin, which ended up being much further than anticipated. We saw some beautiful landscape, gardens and fountains. There were some very friendly squirrels. We stopped for lunch along the way and had the very best tiramisu I’ve ever tasted.
We continued trekking and got to Valentino Castle. We walked through the gardens and into the castle. It was done up all old-timey and looked super cute.
We crossed the river to find a cycling store that Matt found on the internet. He’s obsessed. He bought some gear and was pretty chuffed with himself.
The next day we got up bright and early to get to the Museo Egizio before the crowds. It was the most extensive collection of Egyptian artifacts that I’ve ever seen. Also, we saw an open mummy. It was the creepiest thing I’ve ever seen.
After the museum we caught a rattly bus to the bottom of Superga hill, to catch a little train up to Basilica of Superga, a beautiful church overlooking Turin. Unfortunately we couldn’t peak inside; someone was getting married. But the views were just spectacular.
After Superga we headed back down the mountain to check out the views from Mole Antonelliana. You catch an elevator to the top to take in the 360 views.
That night was spent watching the soccer in a piazza with the locals! It was the perfect way to end our stay in Turin. We were on a train the next day for our next stop: Rapallo.

No, I think it was a perfect amount of time for us. I’m not sure what else we would’ve done if we had more time. Might’ve been nice to hire a car and find a winery. Are you going to Turin?
